It Just Got Interesting -- August 1979

I looked at the two girls before finally sighing. "Fine. But I swear if you do anything to her, I will hunt you down and unleash him," I warned Peter, knowing that he knew what 'he' I was talking about. I grabbed Chloe's hand, hopefully not too hard, and led her into the house.

I set to work on making tea, to give to everyone who wants it. I always ended up making tea when things got tense. Something Chloe and I had just gotten used to. Needless to say I knew I would need to try to calm Remus down more then the other too. " Guys!" I said loudly as I went upstairs. Knocking on the door, " Maybe come down for tea? Or I'll bring it up here....Please, drink some...it'll help. " I know the needed to calm down and I fully expect and snap remark.

He was a little forceful, but I understood why. He made sure I got into the house first then shut the door behind us. " I'll get us some tea." I said knowing Lily was making some, I heard the kettle. I rubbed my hand across remus' shoulders as I walked into the kitchen. " There is so much tension and it's all his fault. " I said to her referring to Peter. This should be a happy occasion.

"Thank you, guys," I said, putting a hand on Remus's shoulder as he walked by to try to steal some of his strength and to reassure him. After they got into the house I took a deep breath and looked at Peter. "I know who you're going to see; at least I think I do. I swear if they find out about my baby, I will hunt you down. Peter... think about what you're doing. These are your friends! Don't do something you'll regret for the rest of your life. Because who was it who helped you out in your studies? Remus. Who walked up to you first and became your friend instantly? James. And who stopped people from picking on you because they thought you were strange? Sirius. We can all help you with this if you let us..."



I laughed in her face. "You really think this has anything to do with what you saw?" I moved so I was just inches from her. "And you think you can threaten me? I'm a favorite, Ember, and no harm can become of me."



His words chilled me to the bone. "I-I... just don't go through with it Peter." I knew that the others had something on one of their arms and I didn't see one yet on Peter's. At least I hadn't that day in the ally. "Let them help you..."

"Thanks dear," I said as I watched the two outside. I tensed up when I saw Peter move towards Ember. I only saw her face adn the fact that she looked totally fine with it was the only reason I hadn't moved. I did see tears in her eyes... I would wait one more minute before ordering Peter to leave.

I took a deep breath before answering Lily. "Lily, babe, I don't think that's a good idea," I said to her, opening teh door. "I mean... Sirius probably shouldn't bee seen by Ember. It would only upset her more." Just seeing my girl made me feel calmer.

I brought the tea back for Remus and I sat down by the other window, to observe Peter and Ember and then to Remus then the three all over again. I took a sip watching the tension build all because of the man out there.

i nodded, " Okay hon. Remember though it will be out here on the table for you both. " I said as I closed the door behind me. I worried about everyone in this house and it was my job to worry about everyone. I had to try to keep the peace no matter how hard it was.

The little rat, I know he's going to do something I just couldn't read it and what hurt most was it was one of the Marauders....I just couldn't make sense of it which made my skin crawl and my temper build. I nodded and gave Lily a quick thank you as I went back to pacing.

"Just think about it, Peter," i said when all he did was glare at me. "I either want you to come back in and play nice or you need to leave." I looked beyond Peter and saw Remus and Chloe watching me. They looked so nervous for me. And my heart was racing. I could see the other half in Remus's eyes. "Actually, leave. If youstay I don't know what will happen to you. And when you leave, in a week's time I better hear you got ahold of Sirius or one of the others to apologize for your actions. You need to understand --"



"Shut up and get off your high horse," I spat at Ember. I knew what I had to do. I did need to keep playing nice wiht those three. "I'll do what I have to do with the other three. I just can't let this other obligation get away fromme," I said ina calmer tone. "Just keep Sirius under wrap or something will happen to him," I added thoughtfully. I turned and apparated.



I closed my eyes and fought the tears. He just threatened Sirius for a second time. He left and I just stayed out there, trying to gather myself.

I moved toward the window to see if Remus was still with him and saw Ember. "Oh, my God... what is she doing?!" I asked loudly. I left Sirius alone and went downstairs quickly, sure Sirius was either looking out the window or behind me; I really couldn't tell.

James left I rushed over to the window and saw Ember. " What the hell..." I took my wand out and blasted the window and jumped up onto the sill and looked my way down I jumped from the roof to the porch roof and swung down by the rafters. " Are you nuts?" I asked her. " are you alright? What happened?..where's the rat?"

I jumped as the window broke above me; it happened almost as soon as Peter left though. "Sirius! Don't hurt yourself!" I said at hte same time he called me nuts. "He left because I told him to. I don't know where," I added quickly. Maybe too quickly. "I'm fine, SIrius. Trust me, Remus was watching me like a hawk... I'm fine. Let's go back inside... try to calm down..." I put my hand on his arm, trying to be comforting and to try to hide what I was really feeling right now. Fear, terror, and worry.

I saw Peter leave, " Well, he's gone now..." I said quietly as I went to get the door as James came down the stairs looking almost frantic. Then Sirius flew into view.

I just went to hug her, " Okay, you're all right. Let's go inside. " I said quietly as I stood behind her letting her go into the house first. I looked around before stepping into the house. I sighed, " Well, that went well..... hungry anyone?"
