It Just Got Interesting -- August 1979

I hadn't been feeling well lately... and when Tobi and I went out for brunch the other day, I thew up multiple times.  And that was when Tobi said I should probably take a test... a pregnancy test.  I mean, it would be okay because we're already engaged but still... So I took the test and it was positive.  How would Sirius feel?  I mean, hopefully he'd be okay with it... it was sooner than we'd hope.  But I hoped that everything would be okay.  I got home and hoped that Sirius was there.  "Babe?" I called out, setting my purse on the end table and hanging up my cloak.

" Yes Darlin' " I said as I walked behind her holding onto a coffee mug. Smiling "how are you?" I asked I was happy so I asked her how she was. She had been getting out of bed a few times in the morning what sounded like her getting sick. So I figured she had gone to get checked.

I smiled and gave him a simple kiss on the cheek. "I'm... well, I'm alright. Tobi and I went to the doctor's so I could get checked out... you know, since I haven't been feeling that great," I said, as if I had to explain to Sirius. I knew I'd beenkeeping him up.

" Mhm?" I proded her to go on. " What's wrong?" I asked her. Everytime I tried to help her she would tell me to not worry about it. " And?"

I smiled a little, he always gets too concerned soemtiems. "Nothing's wrong... well, not really anyways. I mean... Sirius," I said, sitting down. I looked up at him. "We're going to get an addition sooner than what we thought we would." It seemed really weird; I couldn't say I was pregnant... it was just way too weird.

I looked to her and she looked like she was waiting for me to click the information she'd just given me. I grinned, " You mean Pregnant?" I looked to her and her face said yes. My grin grew large, " That's wonderful!" I said as I put my coffee down on the counter and pulled her up into a hug and kiss. So I take it you saying your fine when you were getting sick wasn't fine now was it..." I teased with a smirk. I coulnd't believe this, I was with the girl I love, and we are going to have a child! Wow....me a dad. wow. That's something I never really thought about. Names were already flying through my mind. " I have ideas for names..." I told her. I could not stop grinning. I could not know how nervous or scared she was really. She wouldn't tell me.

I had my ideas as to how scared she was but again she would tell me nevermind and not to worry about her. Which was completely crazy. how am I not going to worry about her. " I already have one full idea....Landon Ryan Black. " I said with a smile. Ryan was her dad's name so I saw it fit like a glove. It was just an idea... I of course would let her think of more girl names, she would just become my little princess. Oh no, we had to tell James and Lily. We already expected Lily and James to be trying as well. We just beat them too it. How on earth would she tell them? I would have to tell Prongs with her. Oh man. He's going to want to kill me for his sister..who is of course my fiance but she still is his little baby sister. Who he adores but she just doesn't know how far he'd go. I shook my head of the worries. Even though I may want to leave the country. I smiled at my thought. I sat down and pulled her to sit on my lap as I went into my baby ramblings. " Or Dean Ryan Black? ...Or Clara black. Or Lily Tabatha. Or Tobi..in the middle name somewhere." I suggested.

For it being SIrius, I really hadn't expected this at all. I couldn't help but laugh both with relief and joy at how he was reacting. "Babe, babe, slow down," I said, grinning at him. I put my arm around his shoulders so it'd be a little more comfortable to sit on his lap. "And it was fine, it was completley normal getting sick -- I'm not sick am I? So I'm fine," I teased back, kissing his cheek. Then my smile faded slgihtly. "How am I going to tell LIly? I know they're trying... and to have beat her to it... she'd be happy for us, I know, but still... I know I'd feel slightly disappointed as well. ...let's just wait for a little while, okay? Maybe after the first ultrasound to make sure everything is alright with me and the baby..." I was slgihtly supersticious... not that Mum had troubles with me and James, but I could have troubles. And until I knew that, I wouldn't want to tell everyone and then something horrible happen.



"And Dean Ryan sounds cute," I added, my grin returning.

I grinned, " Oh like your brother minds trying longer. " I said with a laugh. But I understood where she was coming from. I was admittedly worried about telling Prongs. But I really want people to know I'm going to be a dad. I would just have to keep my mouth shut til the first ultrasound. " You know...we should tell James and Lily about that. " I told her with a small smile. They would be happy. Yes, Lily might get a little disappointed but I'm sure she will get over it. But you know you want everyone there to see it. I of course and going to be there. There's no ifs about that. But You know they would be hurt if we kept it secret. Although, I do have an idea on how we could tell your parents...and a way to tell James and Lily. " I told her with my ever so famous Marauder grin. " We could set off little fireworks to annouce the arrival of us... then have the picture of the ultrasound pop out at them. Or we could get those little trinkets that Lily knows about. The World's best everything.." I said as my mind went racing on how to tell them. I was happy beyond belief and I was enjoying my little planning schemes. It was just different for me to keep anything from James and it would tear me apart. But I could do it. Just apologize for keeping it secret.
" I'm glad you like Dean." I said with a laugh. I still couldn't believe I was going to be a dad.

I shook my head and laughed a little. "How about just telling them? Like normal people," I suggested, giving him a playful shove on the shoulder. "Well, I mean, Tobi already knows because she went with me because she was sick of me not -- how did she put it? -- 'taking care of myself.'" I laughed and rolled my eyes. "So we can tell the other four, if you'd like. Just keep it on the down low with my parents and all... dad's really sick and I'd hate to get his hopes up and then for something to happen... it would break their hearts." I felt horrible because we were talking about my family and Sirius couldn't tell his own. Maybe I could sneak off to tell Orion? I know his mother's a bitch. But it seemed like in the stories I heard him telling James, Orion seemed half-way decent and fi I could get him away from his wife, he may listen and be happy for his son. I'd just hate to do it behind Sirius's back but I knew I'd have to.



"And I like the name Emma Christine for a girl," I added, kind of surprised it popped through my own musings. "I know it doens't have any family names in it... but it sorta has mine," I said with a grin. Tobi called me Em all the time.

I grinned to her, " Way to take all of the fun awa from me..." I agreed none the less. Lily of course would be thrilled. She was training in being a healer. She seemed to find it fit because we wanted to be Aurors so she wanted to be sure that if ever something happened to us she would know how to help. " We can tell them like normal people I guess..." I said with an exasperated sigh with a smirk. I was excited to let everyone know. Although, I did have a sense of maybe we should get everyone there to tell them. I mean our little group. " Of course we'll show your parents the first picture?" I suggested. Knowing that she was keeping =this from her family. Hell, I could go without telling me family, but I knew she was close with hers. Hell, I was close with hers. I nodded, " Yeah, so we'll go to your parents after the ultrasound then." I said again. I still couldn't stop grinning. I felt ridiculous but Ididn't really care.

"That sounds like a plan," I said. "And we could invite the other four for dinner tonight if you'd like?" I knew he wouldn't be able to keep this a secret for llong... I knew I was asking a lot to keep it quiet from my parents until the first ultrasound but I felt that would be the best idea in case I miscarried or something.

I grinned, " That defnitely sounds like a plan..." I agreed. I couldn't wait for prongs to know I was going to be a dad.It would definitely take some time to clue in top that.

"Well, how about you let them all know," I suggested, standing up. "And I'll start supper and then get changed because I look horrendous." I smiled at him and pulled him up. I gave him another kiss. "That sound like a plan?"

I nodded with a grin. " That sounds marvelous love...and I'll get started on the owls telling everyone to come over.." I said as I stretched and walked with her walking down the hall to the desk in the hallway. Grabbing some parchment I had to make it seem like we were just inviting them over for dinner nothing big. I bit my lip, Lily would go into over drive of trying to disect what it meant and James would think food that Lily doesn't have to cook. Remus would overthink this as well....Chloe would too....but then again. All of our friends were very motivated by good cooking thankfully Ember was pretty good at it.
I wrote.

Hey guys.....Ember's making some good food. You all should come and join. I mean I love food but I guess I'm willing to share with you all. Yes, we mean come tonight. In hopes that you guys haven't already eaten. And if you have I'm sure you can fit more. That was more to James and Remus. But we expect you guys won't be too long. See you all soon. there seemed to work fine. I called Pig over, I copied the letter once and told him one for Lily and James and one for Chloe and Remus. He hooted at me and he flew off.

"Thanks, babe," I said, getting the food started. It was just goign to be a basic meal, nothing too extravegant. I headed upstairs to get into something not so blah. So I found a simple black blouse and a pair of my nicer jeans -- just something to looknice in but nothing over the top.
