I knew that there was something about you....how can I help? ---December 1975

I couldn't believe that McGonagall paired the two of them up. " She really did?!" I asked, I couldn't believe that. " Is she sick?"

Well, we have been told that we must produce a finished project a day early. " Well, Minnie told us we better have a finished project a day before everyone else. She expects it apparently. Something about being easily distracted or something...." I wasn't really paying attention much.

I shrugged.  "I don't know what she said," I replied.  "I think she's expecting something big from us..."  I could feel the look Remus was giving me while I spoke directly to Lily.  I did not even want to see what it looked like.  "We'll have it done in time, I'm sure."

I was staring incredulously at James as he spoke.  "You two are so dead.  If neither one of you paid attention to what McGonagall told you... you've messed up," I said to them, shaking my head.

" Yes but the question is are they listening now?" I asked him with a smile. It was strange having a conversation with James where I didn't leave angry. Or how he hasn't bullied Severus. " He is right though....if you don't somehow remember what she said you two have to perform a miracle." I said as the two of them didn't seem to worried.

"What?" I asked, being brought back fully into the conversation.  I had been nudging Sirius about a couple of girls that he should go flirt with.  I was content staying there and talking with Evans... but that did not mean that Padfoot and Moony had to stay here.  Iw as hoping that Moony could be Padfoot's wing man so I could sit with Evans alone.  "Oh, the project. We'll be fine.  Transfiguration is my best subject," I said, smirking because Siruis and Remus knew all too well how good at Transfiguration I really was.

I could not resist laughing at that.  "Just because it's your best subject does not mean that you can skate through an assignment without knowing what you need to do," I pointed out to him.

I rolled my eyes at Remus, though I was glad to see him feeling better.  "Oh sure it does.  Me and Padfoot have got this," I assured him.

Laughing, " Well, Remus as long as they've got it." I couldn't resist laughing. I pulled my hair into a ponytail, I was having a good time with them. It was strange, to not want to tell James off. Flipping mybook over to avoid having Sirius pick my book up as he was looking at it. " Yes...I am reading.." I told him as his attention was brought to some girls he could go talk too. Thank Merlin.

"But sometimes, Evans, it's okay not to be reading... doing is just as fun.  And much more entertaining," I said to her, winking.  I probably was going to cross the line at one point, and I felt like I was getting rather close.

I looked over at James, finding that I might have to do some damage control or at least buffer the situation.  "Look... reading is fun.  I keep trying to tell you and Sirius that if you crack open a book every now and again, you would be amazed at the worlds you find within them," I pointed out.

I chuckled.  "Why go to a different world when the one I live in is pretty epic?" I asked before even thinking.  Then I realized who I was talking to -- even Sirius would admit to wanting a different world sometimes.  Evans had family issues with her sister; Padfoot was the only Gryffindor in his family and there was so much more to that; Moony was a werewolf and hardly anyone would accept him.  I looked at them, my smile fading quickly.  "I'm sorry guys," I added softly, hoping that I did not upset them.

I looked over at James when he spoke and knew better than to get upset by his lack of thought of what he said before saying it.  I smiled at him slightly.  "You're fine James," I said to him softly.

I gave Prongs a shrug, " It's all good mate." I grinned to him as my attention went over to the girls huddled in the corner. I winked at the them which sent them into fits of giggles. I'm not going to lie saying I don't like the attention I get. " I'll be right back guys....Evans..." I nodded as I walked over to the brunette with the big rack. " Hey..." I said flipping my hair out of my face.

I was about to say something to James when he put his foot in his mouth himself. I gave him a smile, " It's okay...." I stood up stretching, " I'll be right back..." I said putting my book on the side table as I was going to get changed into pajamas. I loved reading in my fluffy pants, and changed into a tank top as I tightened my ponytail. Did I just try to relax in front of James and the guys? No....Shaking my head I accidentally left my blanket in the dorms. I came back, " Hey....sorry."
