I knew that there was something about you....how can I help? ---December 1975

I nodded at her, smiling slightly.  "When have I ever denied helping you out?" I questioned.  I knew I would have to answer about a hundred questions from James later to see if Lily spoke of him and if I heard anything about other guys, but I did not mind helping her out.  "Are you leaving the same thing behind every time?  At first the stem of my goblet was always the legs of the raven... and that happened every time I did it for the first dozen times or so."  I was easily becoming much more comfortable again, even though I was extremely tired, achy, and had a killer migraine.  I was used to doing this.

I smiled, its been flip flopping. " Sometimes actually...its been doing both..." I explained, " Sometimes I leave the feet and others its just the beak...so its getting frustrating." I said with a laugh. Remus was easy to talk too. I didn't feel like he got the credit he deserved. " It kills knowing I get it to a point and than it just disappears because I couldn't get the entire bird back into a goblet. You didn't see my goblet running around the room?" I asked him as I adjusted myself to face him more.

I laughed and shook my head.  "No... I was too busy helping the other three," I said, rolling my eyes.  "James, naturally, wasn't paying attention.  Sirius had been most likely distracted sitting by the window to see his reflection or something.  And Peter, well, he always needs help."  I was not entirely sure what the other two had been doing, but I was sure it had been something entirely self-centered since that was the way they were.  "What I did to fix my problem, I had to pretty much just focus extra hard on converting the feet into a stem of a goblet and then it became natural.  But with it sort of flip flopping for you, that might be a litlte more challenging."

I laughed as he explained why he missed my goblet. " So just more focus I could try that..." I said. Honestly I was focusing on others as they attempted the spell and how easy it was for James and Remus and Sirius to do it in a snap. " Swish and flick?" I asked him.

I nodded at her.  "Yeah," I said.  I stifled a yawn and smiled apologetically at her.  Though I hated that she knew, it sort of made it easier in a way; I did not have ot explain to her why I was tired and make up some lame excuse.  I was not entirely sure how I made it through on days like this.  "Just try to focus... I know there can be distractions," I added, knowing that some people preferred to goof off than actually learn.

I nodded in agreement, " Whatever do you mean distractions? You mean the people who sit beside you and cause little explosions?" I asked, then sitting up more, " Or do you mean one of the ones who never lets any boy other than you and Sirius and Peter sit near me...." I asked him with a bemused smile. " I shook my head as he apologized and continued, " It's easier said than done that's for sure."

I chuckled slightly.  "I have no clue what you're speaking of," I joked, knowing full well that James thought he was inconspicuous about not letting any other guy sit near Lily.  I knew that she would notice rather quickly and it appeared I was correct -- as usual, but does he ever listen to me?  No.

I had just left...Chelsea...I think....or was it Christy? I was grinning from ear to ear. I have no idea what her name was. Shrugging that off I buttoned up my shirt and headed for the common room. On my way there I had a few girls giggle at me. I smiled to them as they chattered happily about me. Not that I am self absorbed or anything to that extent. I turned the corner as I bumped into prongs.

I was rounding the corner, finally leaving Dahlia I think was her name, and nearly ran into Padfoot.  I smirked, knowing the look that he had on his face.  "So... having yourself some fun?" I asked, eyebrows raised.

I nodded at him, " Yeah, right....I wasn't suppose to catch on was I?" I asked him with a laugh. He made it very obvious when certain people sat near me. " You know I'd here someone clearing there throat and the person sitting beside me would get up and move and one of you would sit down." I explained on how I managed to figure it out. " It had started in what first year?" I asked him with a grin.

I ran a hand through my hair, thinking.  "Yeah, sounds about right," I agreed, nodding.  "He has always been fond of you..." I sighed, looking at Lily and smiling slightly.  "Too bad he doesn't really know how to handle it."  Going around and fooling around wiht other women sure was not going to win Lily's heart over.

I nodded, " I know he's your friend Remus...doing what he does he shouldn't get special consideration...especially when he's with Merlin knows who..." I said with a shrug. He does all of this special treatment for me and yet sleeps around with other girls. That is not going to get me to agree to going on a date with him. No matter what. I pulled my hair into a tighter ponytail, " Well, anyway....if I shouldn't have caught on it should have been done better..." I pointed out with a grin.

I stretched as we spoke and walked back to the common room. " Of course....I assume you were doing the same thing..." I said as I grinned as I saw his reaction. To my knowledge Prongs was attempting to make Evans jealous or something. " You know...your woman is partnered up with Remus I think in transfiguration....you may want to try to get yourself mentioned in there a few times." I suggested. Thinking it would be a helpful tip. " Ch....I forget her name but apparently I mean the world to her....just sounds weird to me. " I told him as I ran a hand through my hair. I seemed to have picked it up from Prongs. " See what you have me doing now?" I asked him as we were at the bottom of the stairs. " I picked up a Potter trait. This is ridiculous mate."

I laughed and shook my head.  "Since when has subtlety been a strong suit of James Potter's?" I asked, smirking.  My smile faded slightly when I spoke again.  "I've tried to talk to him about everything... but he likes the attention he gets - even though he gets more negative attention from you because you can't stand the way he acts half the time, it's still attention.  I'd almost say start ignoring him completely - or as much as possible - and it might actually spur a change in him."  I was giving Lily relationship advice on James?  Damn... what the bloody hell was I thinking?

I raised my eyebrows and smiled.  "Excellent... Moony will definitely help me out," I said, not even worrying or having to wonder about the fact that he would point out my better qualities.  It was what best mates were for.  I laughed, noticing what Sirius was doing.  "Well... slightly messy hair gets me attention... so I have got to keep it going.  If it works, why change it?"  We approached the Fat Lady's portrait.  "I wouldn't listen to any of the chicks, though, mate.  They'll say anything to try to keep you around for longer than a romp in the sheets."  I had my fair share that did the same thing.
