Did You Ever Tell? -- November 1979

I smiled and got up, " Hi!" I said as I walked over to them. " Odd you can't stay for dinner." I said with a wonderment on what the surprise or something was. I looked to my nephew, " So sweet.." I grinned.

"I know right? But whatever... maybe he has plans," I said wtih a shrug. "or maybe it's a hint that we're over here too much," I added, teasing. I sighed. "Well, I do suppose we should go so the two of you can enjoy your dinner while it's hot. It smells deliciuos... nto at all like he burnt it," I informed her as we headed down teh stair.s.

I laughed, " I doubt it is over here to much..." I said. " I think he's planning something. He's about just as good at keeping something secret as I am. He gets all jumpy..." I said explaining why I was suspicious. Leading the way out of our room, " It does smell good. I didn't have to go to the meal's rescue again. " I teased, " The last time I asked him to cook dinner I found it burnt to a crisp and he was in the living room reading."

"I heard that," I called out, hearing them come down teh stairs. Soemtimes I think they forgot my hearing was better than most... you know, because of the wolf. I couldn't help it that I preferred to read than cook...

I chuckled adn said, "Yeah... I think when it comes to our group, none of us can keep a secret for long." I heard Remus call up the stairs and I had to keep from busting up laughing. I just looked at Chloe and made a face indicating we got 'caught'.

I grinned, " I figured...if I had a problem with you hearing...I wouldn't have said it here my dear.." I said as a matter of fact. I walked down with Ember to say our goodbyes to Ember and Sirius. " It smells wonderful honey." I said walking over and giving him a peck on the cheek.

I waved goodbye to the other two adn looked at Chloe. "Well, I'm glad you sound surprised at my cooking capabilities," I said, grinning at her.

I laughed, " I'm just happy it didn't burn..." I teased going over to the table I sat down and waited for what was happening. Or going to happen. I had pulled my hair into a ponytail and looked over to him. " Do you want help?"

I shrugged. 'I suppose I can make your plate for you," I teased. I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to keep the fact that I was going to propose soon a secret for long. I wasn't plannign on doing it tonight... especially since it seemed tihs day was a rollercoaster of surprises adn emotions with everyone. I set her plate before her and sat across from her. "Did you enjoy your bath?" I asked with a smile.

" Thank you honey.." I smiled, " It was wonderfully relaxing." I said as I snuggled into his sweater while I looked back up at him. " How was cooking?" I know it had to be boring for him.

"Well, the cooking part of course was... whatever," I said, grinning at her. "The talk with Sirius was interesting, though. Naturally he was a smart aleck for a little bit." I was thinking of the sarcasm of the ring. It wasn't anything brand new or anything like that. But my dad had given it to me when he met Chloe. It was like he knew before I did that she would be the one. I knew it would mean so much to Chloe.

I smirked, " Isn't always talking with Sirius interesting?" I laughed. It was true. " I'm just glad you didn't leave it alone to burn again..." I said as I looked down to my plate while avoiding his gaze so I wouldn't giggle.

"You better watch it," I said, waving my fork at her before taking another bite.

I felt daring, " Or what. " I said looking up to him. Grinning as I prepared to run for it, I was in a mood. I loved it. So I readied myself to make a break for it. I am horribly ticklish.

I set down my fork and just eyed her, trying to calculate which way she would run. "Oh, you know," I said, giving her one of my half smiles.
