Scared to death -- Winter 2002

Bill Weasley wrote:I nodded and kept pace with her.  "I'm not sure how long you've been dealing with Quinn and everything... but you do know that Charlie had to ask us to help him, right?" I said, feeling slightly uncomfortable.  "I mean... we don't know who the biological father is... we all stepped up to the plate and thought it best to never really find out.  But this... well, the biological father should be able to help her now.  This won't change anything between us brothers, but I just wanted you to know... it's a little delicate in addition to what is going on."  I ran a hand through my hair, not entirely sure if I explained myself clearly enough.

I nodded as he spoke, " I have just taken over her case due to the last healer getting fired." I told him honestly. I did not have patience for people who did nothing when they can be trying anything to help anyone. That's why people were here and she wasn't doing her job so she had to be let go. " I was aware that Mr. Weasley needed everyone he could get yes." I smiled as he spoke. So, that's why. They couldn't get pregnant on their own. " Artificial inseminaton?"

I nodded, glad that they put someone who was more capable in charge of Quinn's case -- I remembered Charlie complaining about the previous healer for sort of blowing off whenever Quinn got sick before.  And now look what happened?  "Yeah, that's exactly what happened," I said.  "Des was able to carry her..."  I sighed slightly.  "Well, I am glad that everything is up to date... if you need to know anything else, I know everything.  Maybe try to give them a little peace if even able..." I trailed off, wanting to protect my younger brother.

I stopped and turned to Mr. Weasley. " Mr. Weasley, my first priority is helping Quinn in any way possible. I have to ask questions. To which by law I have to ask Charlie and Desdemona. I understand what you are trying to do. I am sure they appreciate it. I will be doing everything in my power to help." I repeated. I was beginning to feel like a broken record.

I saw Bill pestering poor Lily and I stood up, putting a hand on his arm.  "Bill, go help your brother," I said, happy that he did not argue iwth me.  I looked at Lily and smiled apologetically.  "I'm sorry, dear, I will try to keep them from badgering you."

I smiled as Molly came over to talk to me." I understand he is just worried as is everyone...I will do what I can Molly....I promise you that. " I told her taking her hand. " I have to go see if any of my nurses match Quinn. "

I gave Lily a quick embrace.  "Thank you, dear," I said to her, wanting her to know exactly how grateful I was for her at the moment.  "I know you'll do everything you can... and my job will be making sure my children let you do it."  I attempted a smile to hide the tears of worry I had forming in my eyes.

I finally got Desi to eat something and we returned to the waiting room.  "Hey... any news?" I asked no one in particular, but made Desi sit down next to Charlie.

Results of Bill Weasley's test came back a little faster than anticipated. I had just sent three of my girls in for tests. I looked into his file and saw it was a positive match. I knew what it would mean in asking him if he would do this. There is no guarantee even with a match. I didn't want to keep anything negative in the conversation but they did have to know. I walked briskly back to Quinn's room where her parents were outside. " Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and Bill Weasley please. Follow me to the room next to Quinn's here. Not to worry there is a door leading straight to the room as well for easy monitoring. " I said as I saw Mrs. Weasley's face. I turned walking into the other room waiting as I sat down at the desk and opened the files.

I looked from my husband, to his brother, to my own brother.  Remus squeezed my shoulder and I took hold of Charlie's hand as we stood up.  Bill looked a little more pale than he had been the moment before.  Was this going to be good news or bad news?  Was Lily taking us aside to tell us that Bill was not a match?  I took a deep breath and followed her into the adjoining room, grateful that we could easily get to Quinn if necessary.

I bit my lip when Mrs. Potter called for the three of us.  I looked over at my mum, who had Ros, and then found Seth with his Uncle Ron.  Okay, good... they were accounted for.  I stood up and walked behind Charlie and Desi, wishing I could give them more strength.  I did not like seeing my little brother like this -- I was protective of all of my siblings... I felt like I should be able to take away all of their pain.  I did not want to see them hurting... and this was one situation I had no control over to help them.  "What is it?" I asked, finding my voice.

" Well, let me start off by saying everyone in the room take a deep breath okay?" I said with a small smile. I needed them to breath and be themselves because what I was telling them is life altering for more than one party. " Mr. Weasley for your test results, there is a match. It was 98% match, there really never is a perfect match because there still can be difficulties. For both parties, it's a very risky procedure. I need everyone in here to know that. " I explained, " For you Mr. Weasley, it's going to be anywhere from 3 months to almost a year to be completely healed from this. There may be certain things you won't be able to do anymore...." I hated having to tell him this but he needed to know what may happen and what will happen.

Pulling my hair into a ponytail, " For Quinn it'll be the about the same recovery time maybe even longer...she will be weak for the first three months. It is completely normal for what her and Bill's body is going to be put through. " I went on. " I just need to let you all know of the cautions and what I promise to do is minimize any of those concerns that I can. " I said looking to the three of them. I know they would do everything they can for their family. I understand that I would do the same. " So, I will leave you to talk about it here as I will go check on Quinn and I will be back in fifteen minutes to go through procedure and paperwork that needs to be done with whatever is chosen." I said standing up and smiling to the three of them as we now know to keep on the matches no matter what. I would start looking for Mr. weasley's blood type and Quinn's blood type to have plenty of resources at our disposal. I had a feeling I knew where this conversation would be taking us. I pulled the door closed behind me to give the three of them the privacy they need at a time like this. I nodded to the group who looked very concerned and I continued to my desk with a lot of questioning looks.

I watched them go into the other room and I could not help but feel get more tense about the entire situation.  I wished I could be int ehre with them -- it was a mother's prerogative.

I looked at Nan when Dad left.  "Where's Dad going?" I asked, my sister joining me at her side.  "Is he going to be able to help Quinn?  We can help..." I did not want Dad to do it on his own.

I was so relieved to hear that Bill was a match!  I nearly missed the rest of what Mrs. Potter was saying to us.  I bit my lip the more she spoke.  Of course we knew this was risky... but it had to be done.  Bill had two nine year olds, though, and then there was Tonks and Sidney.  This might not be the wisest idea for my brother-in-law.  When Lily left, I looked at the boys.  "What are you thinking?" I asked, hoping that Bill would do this for us.  There was almost no other choice right now... we could not lose our baby girl.  I knew that htis was hard for Charlie -- it meant that Bill was the one who biologically fathered our daughter.

Could I do that to Dora and the kids?  Three months to a year before I was back to normal?  I mean, I would do anything for my goddaughter.  I looked at Charlie and Desdemona.  "I think that it's a 98% match.  I will do anything and everything in my power to help her," I said quietly.  "There's no question as to whether or not this will happen."  I wanted them to know that.
