New beginings...where to start..tbd

I rolled my eyes playfully.  "Or we could call it even," I pointed out.  "You know that you probably owe me quite a lot."  I never let any of that come up between us, but I would use it agains ther now if I must.

I was about to playfully protest us calling it even when he added in the second part. Of course he would be able to read my mind that way. My face fell and I let my head hang slightly. "I know I do, and I never thank you enough for everything you do for me." I shook my head slightly, "I don't deserve it."

"I didn't say that to bring you down," I told her, rolling my eyes.  "I was just saying..."  I realized that I must have sounded like Father putting in the favors that other people owed him.  I felt disgusted by that comparison.  "You don't need to thank me... it's what I'm here for."

"I know but it's still true." Nothing Draco could said would ever change that. "I wish I could help you more." I wanted to make sure he was always okay. I couldn't live without him. I looked up at my brother. "Of course I need to thank you Draco, if it weren't for you, who would I have?"

I felt myself go a little pink.  Whenever June said things like that, I got a tad embarrassed.  She thought much too highly of me, despite my efforts to make her not to.  "I know... one day you'll regret saying you want to help me, though.  I'm sure that you'll end up repaying me in one gallant effort rather than just the little things I help you with," I said.

I looked up at him and saw that he had turned pink, "I don't care how I repay you Draco, as long as I help you somehow. Even if it is all in one big payout." Could he not see that the little things he did meant the most to me? "Sometimes the little things are the big ones." I said with a slight shrug. If all I could do for him was one big thing, then I would.

I smiled at her.  "I know... and I hope that you will realize that I don't need repaying," I said, though I knew she would never accept that fact.

"I don't care, you do more for me then I can ever do for you. I just want you to be able to be your own person, not who Father wants you to be." That was my greatest wish, even above me being accepted, was for Draco to be free from Father.

"I am my own person," I countered automatically.  It was true, though, that I was mostly what Father wanted me to be -- except when I was with my twin.  I could really be me around her.  But I really was more and more like Father than I cared to admit as I continued to keep up the charade of being a Malfoy.

"You are when you're with me." I agreed. "I just wished you didn't have to worry about hiding that around everyone else." I admitted softly. Father made sure Draco upheld the Malfoy reputation, that meant he couldn't be his true self with anyone else but me. I felt kind of special because of that but I was nervous, like Draco was, that he did such a good job with upholding the reputation that he would lose himself. Then we would have moments, like the one we had about Aussie accents earlier, and I would know that I'll always have my Draco, even of no one else gets to see him the way I do. "I understand why you do though."

I chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of my neck with my free hand.  "Yeah... I don't think anyone else would enjoy the real me as much as you do anyways," I said, shrugging, letting my hand fall and actually switching arms with the books.  I was sure that if anyone else saw the real me, they would think that I had something slipped into my drink.

I gave a laugh. "I like to think they would but then, what would make me feel special?" I was trying to lighten the mood but of course I knew I wasn't special, Father like to remind me of that fact as much as he could. When Draco and I were together though, just being us, I couldn't help but think Draco saved that for me because I was special. I knew better, he didn't want either of us to get into trouble if he acted like himself in public, but I always pretended it was because I was special.

I grinned, looking over at her.  "Exactly," I said, nodding.  "I only act this way with someone who deserves to see this side... which you're at the top of that list."  Of course, she was the only one on that list, but that was beside the point at the moment.

I rolled my eyes slightly. "I'm the only one on that list, and for a very good reason." I pointed out. "But I'm still happy that we can be ourselves with each other." I smiled at him. He was the only one I could count on in my family, the only one that would understand what I went through at home because he did as well. Without Draco, I had no idea where I would be right now.

I shrugged, smiling slightly.  "That's true... but that just means that you're the only important person to me, too," I added, wanting to get my point across.
