Severus laughed, but it was a dark, bitter laugh. "Now that you've finished lecturing me on how falling in love makes people turn stupid--as, unfortunately, it did to me--what do you want me to say? That I apologize for treating you like dirt? That I apologize for treating that slut Betta like dirt? Fine, I'll admit I've treated you like dirt, Lily. As far as Domenici is concerned, like I said before, she was practically asking for it. I've noticed...she kisses every boy in sight; I think she's had about 13 boyfriends ever since she's been at this school. But...that's another story for another day."

He picked up his wand and started cleaning it with a napkin, watching as green sparks flew out from the tip as he did. "I hope you have a nice life with that maniac, Lily. Have fun punching out his babies...ugh. Just the thought of mini-James Potters running around makes me want to vomit. I pray that I'll never have to meet any of them in my lifetime."

I rolled my eyes, " You know what I hope they don't have to meet you either Severus. I would hate for you to hate them because of a feud gone on long enough!" i said loudly. " Yes, it has gone on long enough... I am allowed to love whom I love Severus believe it or not..." I said angrily. I mean I was not planning on having babies for a while. It'd be nice when things got a little more settled considering we are just now engaged. " I just want to know why me telling you this has turned you into a complete GIT!" I said as my air was running out.

"As if you didn't know." Severus spat. "You don't have a clue, do you? How am I supposed to word this?" He stopped momentarily, then decided to go for it. "Lily, I love you. Can you not see that? I love you! I always have." he added, defeated. "But the joke's on me once again, isn't it? Isn't it--what, Betta?" he asked in exasperation, seeing Betta standing just over to his right. "You have the worst timing!"

Well, was not expecting that...." Severus, no I didn't see it." I said, I really didn't I just figured we were just friends, " I'm sorry..." I said simply. I mean he didn't tell me...and well...I have liked James for a long time just didn't like when he picked on him. How on earth am I going to reply to that? " I didn't see it.."

Betta walked over to Severus and stood inches from him. "Lily is engaged. She belongs to someone else, Severus." she said quietly. "You can't change that, no matter how much you might try. I know you love her, you always have...she's all you've talked about. When are you going to let it go?" queried Betta, trembling nervously. "As for Antonin, he means nothing. D'you think I wanted to kiss him? I would much rather have done this." she finished, rising up on tip-toe and kissing Severus for a long moment. She pulled away, fighting back the tears that were gathering in her eyes. "I love you, Sev. I always will, God knows why. That's what I've wanted to tell you." She took a deep breath. "I guess that's all. I'm sorry if I interrupted anything."

Um....well how on earth do I say anything now? I will just let Severus talk first then I will respond to him. I was stuck not knowing at all what on earth to say.

Severus stared at Betta, not quite sure of what to say for a long moment, then: "You really are pathetic, Betta. Not only do you have a knack for interrupting conversations that really are none of your business, you also have a knack for prostituting yourself to every man who crosses your path. I think I've already discussed this with you--I don't want anything to do with you. Do you not get that? I don't like you; I don't even want to look at you. You've heard what I just told Lily. That's how I feel. You will never hear the same thing from me, now go away!"

"Fine." Betta said calmly. "I'll just stand back and watch you continue to make a fool of yourself, Severus. In fact," she added thoughtfully, "I need to go talk to--hang on...what's this?" she asked, as her family's owl landed on her shoulder, a letter tied to its left leg. She untied it, then read it.

"Dear Elisabetta...Dmitri's return...soiree to be held during holiday break...must be there to meet him and his family...await your decision on other matters...love, Mum and Dad..." She felt her mouth thin, then she looked at Lily. "I'm off. Sorry for interrupting." With that, she began walking up to the castle again.

I didn't know what to do or say... Barely even speak. " You didn't .." I said to Betta as I could see it in her face how broken she was. I couldn't believe the scene unravelling in front of me. " Um."

Betta turned around, a grim smile on her face. "Lily, I'd rather be tortured day and night rather than join in with the Death Eaters." she replied, though even she wasn't sure if she'd be able to hold out for that long. "Severus, on the other hand...well, you might want to check his arm. He's not being entirely honest with you." She looked away for a moment, a tear rolling down her face. "I need to speak with Professor Dumbledore about this. Or I could go to the Ministry and tell someone there what's going on..."

A heated fury spread throughout Severus' body at Betta's statement. His normally pale face turned red. "You're dead, Elisabetta." he hissed, his fists opening and closing. "I don't know when...I don't know where...but you'd better make it a habit to look over your shoulder from now on. You're dead. I'll tell your parents about your apparent decision not to join up. I expect they won't be too happy with that!" He took a couple of deep breaths. "You are so dead!"

Well this was just great, " Severus" I said simply, I was head girl and that was a death threat. " 20 points from Slytherin." I said with no emotion on my face. I had to take points away I'm not going to let him talk to her that way. " good to know Betta." I smiled as I whispered.

"No problem. I can give you more names if you'd like. You wouldn't believe how stupid some of these other Slytherins are when it comes to their marks. Rosier's one...Mulciber's another...Malfoy...MacNair...Severus, of course...there are quite a few of them around this school...oh, yeah...McKennon is another one." Betta replied, when Severus began running back to the castle. "He's off to warn the others that they've been found out."

" Most of those names don't surprise me. " I said with a nod. I mean I knew a Dark Lord had wanted to get rid of people that had muggle parents which meant I of course was on the list of the wannabes to join him. " It's good to know most people don't want to be apart of that. " I said with a grin.

"My parents are right in there with You Know Who." Betta replied. "I remember as a child, my father would read to me out of a Dark Arts book. He used a bird to demonstrate the Unforgivable curses for me. I--" she choked, then swallowed hard to get rid of the lump in her throat. "By the time I was ten, I was practicing all of these curses. Of course, I didn't succeed with actually killing or torturing anything, but I pretty much had the Imperius curse down pat." She sighed heavily. "I'm almost sure that if I tried the torture or killing curses now, I'd be able to do it. I don't want to...I wish I'd never heard of any of them."
