Second chances they never matter, people never change -- Spring 2000

I stopped arguing for a moment and pushed some hair behind my ear.  "Do you want to talk about it?" I asked him softly, unsure if he would tell me.

I was not sure if I wanted to go into the details.  "I'm not sure," I said honestly.  "But please, will you just believe me when I say to keep them away from my father?"

I sighed and looked at him.  "I'm going to need more than blind faith, Draco," I said simply.  "I always go on blind faith... but on this, give me more."

I sighed and looked at her.  "this is the one time I need you to have that blind faith," I said to her, pleading with her.

I shook my head at him.  "Draco, I don't think I can.  Not this time," I said to him, being adamant.  Was it too much to ask to be able to get a straight, honest answer from him just this once?

I collapsed onto the couch, running a hand through my blonde hair. "Pansy... it's just... complicated," I said to her.  I did not want her to run and leave me because she feared what would happen to the kids.  What would happen to me if she did that?

I sighed, resisting the urge to roll my eyes at him.  "Try to explain it, Draco," I said to him softly, putting a hand on his comfortingly.

"He's horrible, Pansy," I said simply.  "He's the reason that Juniper and I have had to go through so much.  The reason why... I had to murder Dumbledore because the Dark Lord wanted me to pay for my father's mistakes!" Why could she not realize how hrorible my father was?

I sighed, knowing some of that already.  "Draco, I am sorry for what he's put you through.  But don't you think he's trying to be a better man because of his grandchildren?" I asked him.

"That's all some sort of ruse," I said, dismissing her theory immediately.  I ran a hand trhough my blonde hair.  "Pansy... trust me, this man cannot be trusted at all."

I crossed my arms.  "Draco, I go on trust alone with you all the time.  Just this once... confide in me," I said to him simply.

She was right; I asked too much of her.  "Pansy... he's a horrible man.  He does anything -- anything -- to get what he wants," I said to her quietly.  "Which is why I won't let you or the kids get in his way.  He would hurt you."

I shook my head.  "I can't believe that," I said, though I knew Draco would not lie about such a thing.  "Can you tell me etails...?"

I sighed.  "What do you want to know?" I asked her, finally giving in.

"What are you afraid of him doing to our children?" I asked, wanting their safety to be my top priority.
