I'd die for her & she lives for me -- Fall 2000

I turned around to face him with a smile, " Yeah, some reason I doubt that.." I said as I knew he would mock hurt. I turned back to Jetty, so is there some news or something?" I asked the two men now.

I saw Lyn's dad walk back into the kitchen.  I had a feeling he did not want to hear any of this a second time.  I smiled at Aimee.  "I want to marry you daughter and I'm here to ask the two of you if I may do that," I explained, thinking that talking to her about it was a lot easier than talking to Regulus.

I really did not give him that hard of a time I did nto think.  I figured that I would just go into the kitchen and stay there.  I did not like the idea of losing my little girl.  I knew Aimee thought i too protective and Madelyn definitely thought that... but after everything I had been through, how could i not be?  I was now on a man hunt to find the one Death Eater who made my life a living hell, who went after Aimee... and I heard that he went after my nephew as well back in England.  I was not okay with that.  Darwin was going to pay.  And with all of that in mind, I had to be protective of my daughter.  She took after her mother -- which was great -- but that meant that she had a strong will that no one was going to keep her down.  She needed protecting.  I finished my mug of coffee and rinsed it out in the sink.  I looked out the window that was above the sink and sighed.  I was not goign to stand in the way of my daughter being happy, but it did not mean that I had to handle it okay right now.

I smirked over to Regulus who smirked at me before he left. Turning back hearing what Jetty had said. I almost squealed. " That is fantastic!" I said pulling him into a hug. " Well you know my answer I am assuming the brooding Mr. Black gave you an answer already as well?" I asked him. " You know that if you ever hurt her though...I will have no choice but to let him loose on you." I told him with a smile.

I laughed as I hugged her back.  "Yeah, I know," I said, unable to stop from grinning.  "He already asked me if I would be put down my life to protect Lyn.  And I believe my answer was satisfactory."  I saw movement behind Aimee and saw that Lyn's father had returned in the doorway.  He really was a scary fellow.

I could not help but smirk when I heard Aimee say she would set me loose.  As if I were the secret weapon.  I liked it.  I returned to the doorway and smiled at the boy, figuring I should be at least kind.  "Yes, you're answer was satisfactory," I agreed.  "I'm glad to see that Lyn has found someone to make her happy."  That took a lot for me to say... I really did not like this that much.  I offered Jetty my hand to shake.  I did not do hugs... at least not when I was playing the tough future father in law.

I smiled, " That's good. Then I am happy to welcome you..." I said as I grinned, " You have to make sure you guys come here first. I want to see the ring on her finger." I said as I knew my daughter. She would gladly show me the ring. " If you come here second I will know..." I told him. My only requirement.

I shook the hand of a man who really did scare me, glad that I had both of their permission.  I grinned at Aimee.  "Of course we'll come here first," I assured her.  I wished my mum lived in the States... I knew she would love to see the ring right away, too.  But that was not going to be able to happen until we traveled over.

" All right then. Sounds good to me." I said with a smile. Knowing that they were coming here, " When are you going to do it?"

"Well I was thinkingi about doing it within the next week or two," I said.  "It all depends on when I can get the plans finalized."  I was planning on having the band that was playing when we first said that we loved each other and I already had permission to do dinner wiht the band in the gallery where we had our first date.  I was a bit of a romantic; something I had gotten form years living with my mother.

I clapped my hands together, " That is wonderful." I said with a smile. I was so happy for our little girl, this was fantastic. " We'll have to have a celebration when it happens. We'll have a party." I said.

"Yes, that sounds just lovely," I commented, trying to keep the sarcasm out of my tone.  I was truly happy for Madelyn, but that does not mean I had to enjoy hearing all of this.  "I think I'm going to make sure that Xander's not up to something... it's awfully quiet.."  Having a four year old in the house and it being quiet was not a good combination.  Besides, it gave me an out to exit the conversation and let me sulk about it for a little bit.

I had climbed up to Lyn's room, she should be there. When I go there she normally is there. I pushed her door open and she wasn't she must be playing hide and seek. I had to go find her, maybe daddy knew where she was. I was getting upset I couldn't find Lyn. " DADDY!!!" I said as ran towards mummy's and daddy's room. To where I found something for me to fix. Mummy's necklace was on the floor. I picked it up and ran to where I heard someone coming. That had to be daddy. " DADDY!"

I finally heard our son giggling and calling out to me.  "Xander," I said, seeing my little guy running towards me.  I bent down and grabbed him, seeing that he had one of Aimee's necklaces hanging from his hand.  "What were you up to, little man?" I asked him, grinning at him.  I loved my daughter to death, but my son had his own little spot in my heart.

I shook my head at my dad, " Noffin...mummy's necklace was on da fwoor." I told him. I didn't take it on purpose. " I didn't want mummy to lose it...." I told him. Proud of myself that I knew mummy loved that necklace.
