Staring into space not really having anything on the mind. --- tbd

So, James Potter has managed to annoy me again just by picking on Severus and Betta. It's not that I don't like James it's just he's being mean and then when i get to think I may give him a chance and then something happens. It just gets to that point. I sighed pulling my hair into an elastic to my one shoulder. " Off to the water..." I said as I gathered my books and headed outside wrapping my robes around me.

Severus watched as Lily walked down toward the lake, then decided that, as he had nothing else to do, he would go talk to her. It would be a lot better than staying inside the Slytherin common room and being the target of the Domenici girl's stare. She was a weird one, Betta Domenici...nothing like Lily Evans.

"Hi, Lily!" he said, hurrying up beside her. "Heading toward the lake? That's where I was headed, actually. Do you mind if I come along with you?"

Gathering my books a little bit I smiled, " Hi Severus. Yeah...just over to the lake. Not at all." i said happy to have some company, everyone else was doing something with their significant others that they haven't actually called their " Significant" others. Looking to him, " so, how are you doing ?" I asked him as we got to the big tree near the lake as i sat down and wrapped my robes around me.

Severus shrugged. "I'm doing okay. At least, no one's hung me upside down in the past two weeks, so I guess that's a good thing." he replied, looking out at the lake. "I was doing some thinking the other day...I remember when you found out that you were magical. Petunia just about flipped her lid." He grabbed a rock and skimmed it across the water's surface, watching in dismay as it hit the giant squid, which had just floated up to the surface. "What was it like, learning that you were a witch?"

I smiled, " Well, it is a good thing you haven't got hung upside down in a little bit..." I pointed out and agreed. I shook my head, " It was different and seemed like an outlet..." I told him. It was hard to describe. " It was exciting...something that really made me exciting.."

Snape nodded, a small smile on his face. "I remember telling you that my mum was a witch, too. I already knew about magic because of Mum. Dad didn't approve of it, though." he said bitterly, spitting on the ground. "He didn't approve of very much to begin with, but when it came to magic, forget it."

I nodded understanding where he was coming from " He was afraid of change....many people are..." I said with a shrug it was a touchy subject for a lot of people. I was thinking of how supportative James was and caught myself thinking about him. Ember would tease me to no end. I smirked, as I looked out to the lake, " So Betta seems to have taken quit the interest in you Severus." I pointed out.

Severus laughed in disbelief. "Domenici? You're kidding me, right?" He shook his head, his black hair falling in his face. "She's the last person I would have thought would have an interest in me. How many boyfriends has she had? Something like three per year almost?
It's known throughout Slytherin...she's got quite the reputation in our House. Jerith's the only boy who keeps insisting that they start dating." He laughed again, then cleared his throat guiltily. "Of course, she did stand up for me that time that James tied my shoelaces together. And she stood up for me when that seventh-year Gryffindor dumped pumpkin juice over my head. I can't really say anything too bad about her."

I nodded, "It's a difficult situation. I understand..." I said with a smile as I was thinking of how hard it must be. I found myself thinking more of James and here I was sitting with Severus. I didn't want to hurt him. But I don't feel that way for him. But I hang out with Severus and talk to him still. I stand up for him. " It's the right thing to do to help out when you can." I said with a smiply smile to him. " It helps when you get a hand sometimes." I said as I looked over to him with an added nod.

"Yeah, I know." Severus sighed, looking down on the ground and grabbing another rock. He skimmed it across the water again, this time careful not to get anywhere near the giant squid. "It's an odd situation...guess it goes with the rest of my life, right?"

I furrowed my brows, " I wouldn't know that it was difficult.." I told him honestly. How was I supposed to know. I shrugged a little. I didn't know where he was heading with this.

Severus cleared his throat. "So...have you and Potter...you know...gone out lately?" he queried, not really wanting to know the answer to this, but feeling as though he had to ask it just the same. "I mean, if it's none of my business, you don't have to answer. I was just curious."

" We have been out. Yes. It's been a little while. We've gone to a few places and just done nothing. I know you don't really want to hear me talking about him." I smiled. " So, how about you?" I asked him. Inquiring about his love interest, still hoping he may have someone in mind. I mean, Sev is a very sweet guy, he was so nice to people and yet I couldn't help thinking misunderstood by a lot of people. I have known him for a while. " So..when do you think Slughorn will give the Slug club a break in promotion?" I asked him with a laugh.

Severus grinned. "No idea. Of course, you never know with him. So eccentric, that one." He looked down and grabbed another rock, this time throwing it off to his right. "I-I'm glad to hear about you and James...that's nice, you two going places and all. Wish I could say the same thing was happening for me, but...in any case, it doesn't really matter. I have my Potions to play around with."

hm, " Grab the bull by the horns....take a chance Sev. If the girl you like likes you back. You'll know...and if not. There will be plenty of girls waiting for you. There is always someone for everyone." I told him. As corny as it sounds, I like to think it's true. " You can only know by trying....not trying and you fail without ever knowing what could have been." I said as I adjusted my robes.
