Why Don't We Just Dance -- Summer 1996

I grinned at Dean.  "Of course I trust you," I said.  When did I never trust him?  I took a deep breath and looked at him.  "Are you ready for me?" I bit my lip slightly, hoping that he would be perfectly ready to catch me.

I grinned at her.  There was no way I would drop her.  "I'm waiting," I said.  We were not going to do any dancing leading up into it yet.  That would be asking for trouble, I thought.  I nodded at her as she ran a little bit and then jumped.  I caught her, but lost my own balance.  We fell backward onto the beach into the surf.  I could not help but laugh.  "Well... I didn't drop you," I said as we laid there on our backs laughing.

I could not believe that we toppled over; thank goodness for the water.  "Wanna try it again?" I asked, thinking I might just put extra power into it just for the sake of making Dean lose his balance again.  That was rather entertaining.

I looked at Lucy.  "I know that smirk... you're so going ot pull something, aren't you?" I asked, though I was preparing myself to catch her again.  I knew better than to expect nothing less from her.

I shook my head at him innocently.  "Of cousre not," I said simply.  I took a few steps back and ran forward, a little more forcefully than I needed to.  We instantly fell over in the water and we both ended up laughing.  He continued to try to dunk me under.  "Hey!  That's not fair!" I laughed.

"Well, neither was trying to knock me over," I pointed out, swimming away from her so she could not retaliate in the attempts to dunk me.  Like she would have succeeded... please.

I glared at him and swam towards him.  "Dean, I'm going to get you," I warned, smirking at him.  He was deifnitely not going ot get away with that.

I swam away from her with ease, starting to float on my back.  Smirking at Lucy, I called over to her, "You're going ot have to catch me first, Lu.  And we both know you can't do that."

I groaned and swam after him, though he had a head start.  "Dean!  You're a jerk," I yelled, laughing as I moved towards him.  He was being ridiculous.

I floated on my back, allowing her to catch up to me a little ways.  "Admit it, Luce, you miss me," I said to her, winking.  It had been three years since we were a bit of an item, and I loved teasing her about it because she did not want her newest interest -- Ayden -- to figure out we were more than friends.  She thinks it would hurt his feelings or something.

I rolled my eyes.  "How could I Miss you?  You never give me a chance," I pointed out, laughing.  Of course that was not what Dean was speaking about, but I had to point out that he was always here at the Lupin household.

I could not help but laugh.  I swam away from her because she was getting awfully close to me.  "Well, that's not exactly what I meant... but that is true," I said, reaching the dock and pulling myself up and sitting so my feet were still in the water as I watched her swim towards me.

I swam over to the desk and was grateful that he helped pull me onto the dock.  I had half a notion to pull him in... but I did not want to deal with him retaliating against me.  I was too tired.  He did interrupt me from sunbathing.  "I know it is," I said to him simply.

I rolled my eyes and laid back on the dock, sighing.  "So what you're saying is that I should give you a chance to miss me?" I asked her, grinning.

I smirked and nodded.  "That is exactly what I am saying," I said to Dean simply.
