"You are getting real food," I said to the three of them. "No dessert... I don't need any of you hyped up on sugar." We got our food together and the kids got it in bags to take back to the room to be with Dean. I was grateful about that -- now that he was awake, I did not want to be far form him for long, either.

I groaned, looking back at my mum. "What if we eat everything, though? Then can we have dessert?" I asked, hoping she would agree to that.
