Re: You and Me Against the World -- Late Summer 1965
I walked back over to my dad, holding a couple of books. "Dad, will you help me decide which one would be better to get?" I asked, holding them out for him to take a look at them.

I smiled and took hold of each book. I flipped through both of them a little bit. "Well, they both seem superb to me," I said to him. This boy has had so many things go wrong for him in his short life. "I think we're just going to have to get both." It was a small, meager gesture, but I had to do something to lift his spirits.

My eyes widened while I looked at my dad. "Are you serious?!" I asked, disbelief in my voice.

I stood up and smiled. " Of course I am," I said to him. "Do you want to continue looking around..? Or are youready to go?" I asked REmus.

If I kept looking, I was sure I would end up finding more things that I woudl want to buy. And I did not want to bombard my dad with requests. "We can go," I said. There was no reason for me to beg for anything else. I was already getting two books.

I chuckled at my son's enthusiasm. I got us back to the Leaky Cauldron and smiled. "Find a table, kiddo," I said to him, waving at Tom when he looked up at us from behind the bar.

I smiled and set down our things. "This is perfect," I said to him. A barmaid came up to us and I ordered us drinks. "Everything looks so good, don't you think?" I looked over the menu.

I was having a hard time reading some things on the menu since they were grown-up words. "Dad... I just want my favorite type of hotdog," I said to him. "With some chips." A dog smothered in cheese, onions, chili, and bacon bits. The best thing in the world.

I chuckled. "Of course you can have your odd little hotdog," I said to Remus with a smile. I ordered our food and looked at him while we waited. "Are you doing alright?" I asked him, completely concerned. It had been a rough time for us with his mother leaving.

I grinned at my dad. "Thanks," I said to him, genuinely pleased. I looked at him and nodded. "I'll be alright." I was still upset, but I was not sure if Dad could handle hearing that.

I smiled at my young son. "I know," I said to him. " You're so strong, Remus... you always have been. I just... well, let's just continue onward, eh?"
It was my fault that Remus had been bitten. I knew it was Greyback. I had crossed him accidentally and he took it out on my son. I knew I would have to tell him that one day... but I could not do it to such a young boy. I did not want him to lose me,t oo, because I feared he would push me away for having unintentionally do this to him.
