I walked towards my daughter's bedroom and found her reading in bed.  I knocked on the door. "Honey?  Can I come in?" I questioned.  Ember and I had always been close until this summer.  She was so hurt that her father and I never told her she was adopted.  We were scared we would end up losing her... and it seemed as though we were coming close to it.  I was not going to let that happen.  "I would like to talk to you about everything."  I hoped that she would want to talk.

I closed my book and looked at my mum.  "What else do you need to say?" I questioned, hoping that I would nto be a complete brat, but knew that it was not going to happen.

I sighed; I knew this was going to happen. I sat next down on the end of my daughter's bed. "Ember... we didn't tell you to keep you safe," I said quietly. "Your birth mother wouldn't let us help her, but we were able to save you. We don't know what was going on... but she wanted us to have you." I knew this would end up being hard for Ember to hear; I honestly don't know what happened to her birth mother. But my young daughter deserved to know where she came from.
