Re: Playing matchmaker -- October 1988
"Apparently," I said, sitting down to grab myself some lunch before telling Bill everything he needed to know. I piled food onto my plate like I was starving or something. "I think he was just trying to keep the bro code... you know, not dating brothers' girls or anything like that. Not that you're my girl, but you're my best friend. It still would have broken the code had I not been the one to bring it up." Sometimes girls just did not understand the bro code.

I bit my lip trying to understand how that worked. I shook my head, guess you have to be a guy. " Okay, that doesn't really make sense but whatever..." I said with a smile.

"There are a lot of things wiht the bro code. Basically, if Bill wants to date you -- and he does, because I asked him -- he had to sort of go through me first. That way if something happens and the two of you become enemies, he would not have stuck me in the middle. I would have by saying that I wouldn't care. It's complicated and goes without saying," I said, shrugging and stuffing my face. "I don't know when he'll do it, but he''ll be asking you."

I raised my eyebrows skeptically, " all right..." I said now I just have to dress fantastic all the time and though he will know that I am going to fall and ruin it. I figured why bother. Be me it seemed to get me this far.

I took a swig of pumpkin juice and added, "I'll be leaving after lunch to go hunt him down. He's probably still in teh library already studying for NEWTs. He'll probably yell at me for not starting to study for our OWLs, but whatever. Maybe I'll get him to ask you tonight sometime..." I shut up, thinking for a moment. "Nah, he can decide that stuff. I just needed to give the two of you the proper nudge."

I laughed, " Maybe you should study for them. That way you don't have to worry about it so much like I know you will." I said as a matter of fact. " You know we will end up spending a lot of time in the library." I said to him as I read him. " We should study soon..."

Since Charlie left, I could not focus. What on earth did he have to do that for? Now I would be fretting until I knew for sure what was going on with everything. I decided that it would be best for me to take a break anyways... everyone needed a break, right? I packed up my bags and decided to grab some food before heading up to the common room so I went to the Great Hall. I saw Charlie and Tonks chatting and wondered if he had said anything to her yet. I sighed and could not help but roll my eyes slightly and I decided I would just go over and sit with them anyways.

I shrugged Tonks off. "Nah, I'll study probably after christmas break," I said, dismissing her comments about the library. I really did not even want to begin thinking about our OWLs... though Mum had already started badgering me about them over the summer. I looked up and saw Bill walking towards us. "Aha, here he comes now... want me to give you two a moment?" I teased before Bill reached us.

I clutched his arm as I didn't want it to be just us. I felt my hair changing to pink. Trying to calm myself down and shook my head. It changed to blue, which I guess I was all right with as long as it wasn't pink. Smiling as Bill walked over to us. " Hey." I said

I grinned at the two of them as I set my things down. I decided to sit across from tthem; much easier to carry on a conversation. "Hey... what are the two of you up to?" I questioned, seeing some pumpkin juice and taking a swig. "Like the new look, Tonks,' I added. Blue was my favorite color... I was a little curious if Charlie put her up to it.

I looked at Tonks and then back at my brother. "We were talking about... OWLs," I explained, figuring I was not lying completely to my brother. I tried to give him a look that Tonks would not notice, but I could not. Bill was like a genius... but when it came to catching onto things like looks and common sense, not so much.

" New look?" I questioned, then he was talking about my hair. " Oh, right.... no it just went blue..." I said as I shrugged it off. It happens sometimes. It sometimes goes on moods. Which was really annoying and hard to cover.

I nodded. "Gotcha... well, I like it," I said with a smile. I was sure that it was hard for Tonks sometimes with the whole metamorphosis capabilties. But I really was not lying, I did like the blue. I highly doubted that Charlie was talking about OWLs. "Let me give you some advice on the OWLs," I said, "don't put off preparing for them. Charlie, I'm looking mainly at you on this one." No, I was not being subtle about it at all. I expected my brother to do well for himself... so he needed to get his grades up. I knew what he was interested in doing, and they were not completely for good grades, but still. If that ended up not working out, he would need his OWLs and NEWTs to fall back on.

I grinned, " Sounds good... we were actually talking about OWL's...." I told him. Of course I was saying I needed to study. " Thanks." I smiled as heat went to my cheeks.

I glared at Bill. How I wanted to just leave the two of them alone now, but I thought it would be too early to do that. They were still trying to figure out themselves how to handle their feelings. I was just helping them along. "Hey, I'm not that bad. I'll be fine," I said, shrugging it off and nibbling on a cookie.
