Re: Take a leap of Faith -- Christmas 1988
I laughed at my brother's face. I sat up on the edge of my bed to look at him while I talked ot him. "Have I ever said to anyone I want to play quidditch forever?" I shook my head. "I don't deny it, but I also don't say I want to. I tend to quip about it and then I change the topic ever so slightly so it's not obvious." I did that so others could dream. And I also would not have to deal with the disapproval from Mum or Dad... I knew they would not approve of me trying to become a dragon keeper.

Again, my brother's smarts impressed me. He didn't lie about it... but he also avoided telling the truth. "But where would you go to be a dragon keeper around here? Or are you going ot live the dream and escape -- I mean, live on teh edge and be adventurous," I amended quickly with a grin. I loved The Burrow and everyone dearly... but I wanted to be able to be my own person. And there was no way to do that here with nine people living under the same roof. And I knew Charlie felt the exact same way -- we only talked about it all the time.

I grinned at Bill. "Well, I'm glad you asked." I stood up and grabbed a box from underneath of my bed. I opened it up and pulled out a folder. "I've already done my research about it," I explained. "There's a dragon reservation in Romania. That one has really got me interested. I just wish I could do the summer internship before deciding my life career, but I'd have to pay for everything and I'd have to be of age. It's really a dangerous job."

Rolling my eyes at Charlie, I said, "No kidding? Working with dragons is dangerous?" And yes, sarcasm was dripping off of every syllable.

Now I was glad that I kept my brother's pillow. I hit him in the face with it. "No need for the sarcasm, Billy boy," I teased. Yes, I used to call him that all the time when we were younger. Why not bring it up now just for the hell of it? I mean... we were still young at heart.

I should have nknown he was going to do that. "Char-Char... be nice," I quipped right back at him. We sat there chatting about our plans for the future. We had an unsaid pact for keeping all of this a secret until we were ready to tell the rest of the family. I just hoped that we would be able to contain the information since we were both really excited. At least with mine, I only had until June to deal with their disapproval... if Charlie let his plans slip, then he'd have two full years to deal with them trying to persuade him to do something else.
