What's coming will come, we'll meet it when it does -- Spring 2017

I wiped at my eyes and nodded slowly.  "Right," I said.  "How are we going to be able to tell everyone?" That was the worst part of this -- telling everybody every little detail of what was going on.  When it was better news than normal, it was great.  I always hated telling them anything bad... and this was the worst thing ever to happen.  I knew that they would end up not taking any of this well.

I looked at my girls and tried to sound reassuring.  "We'll figure it out," I said to them slowly.  "I think it'll be best if we wait a few days and let ourselves become... as comfortable with it as we can before we tell the rest of the family." I thought that would be the best way to approach this.

That was probably for the best.  I nodded and then sighed.  "Charlie... you know our mums are going to be asking us straight away -- they know everything about when her tests were," I said to him slowly.

I looked at them.  "They can wait, can't they?" I asked, not really sure if I was ready to deal with the gushing love and tears and everything else that would come from the whole lot of them.  It was bad enough with the way Mum and Dad were acting.  And I already knew my decision... I just did not want to fight anymore.  I wanted to get as much time in with everyone I loved before things happened the way they were supposed to happen.

I nodded, going over to her and kissing the top of her head over the back of the couch.  "Of course they can," I assured Quinn.  "It's whatever you want, sweetie.  You know everything has been your choice -- with a bit of guidance, anyways."

I smiled sadly at my dad and nodded.  "Thanks," I said to him, my throat suddenly tight.  How was I going to talk to my parents and telling them what I wanted to do?  I was not going to tell them straight away, I wanted a bit more time to think... but I was sure I was going to keep with the decision I had already thought of as an idea before we even got the results.

I could already see it written on Quinn's face.  I looked past her and towards Charlie; I could tell that he knew as well.  I took a deep breath.  "Honey, why don't you go lie down for a little while?  You look exhausted," I said to her.  It would give us all a minute to react the way we truly wanted to without having to be strong for one another.

Quinn gave each of us a hug before she walked away.  I looked over at Des.  "We'll get through this," I said to her, putting my hands on her shoulders while she was still sitting on the couch.
