The Start of Something New - September 1991

My eyes widened with hers as I saw the shinny new needle, I smiled up at her, "I told you you were a natural!" I said, happy that she had gotten it.

I blush. "I suppose studying all my sisters textbooks paid off. I used to borrow them during the summers... And when I say borrowed, she might not have given me permission to do so" I wink. Perhaps some of my mums Slytherin genes did pass on to me. "Try it again. I think you can complete it fully this time." I smile encouragingly. I pulled out another match and handed it to her .

I took the match and placed it in front of me. I picked up my wand, took a deep breath and put all my concentration into thinking the match into a needle. I was happy Father had made Draco and I grow out of our sticking our toung out habit when we concentrated I preformed the movements, "Igniculus Veracum." I looked over what was once the match and found it was now a silver needle. I smiled up at her. "I did it."

"Yay!I knew you could!" I congratulate her. "Professor McGonagall will be impressed when we are able to do it right away next class!" I say grinning excitedly.

"She will!" I smiled widely at her, I had never had someone believe in me before beside my brother, it felt nice. "I can't wait to show her!" Now I just had to keep practicing so I wouldn't lose it.

"Im so excited" I laugh. "Is it said to be this excited about learning? I mean, I don't think I will ever be this excited about Potions or History of Magic, but there is just something about being about to turn objects into other objects that is so satisfying." I say grinning. "Shall we keep practising?"

"It's not sad to be excited, so am I." I smiled at her, "and yes, let's keep practising. I don't want to lose the progress we made." I wasn't one to think that just because I could do a spell once meant I could always preform it.

I smile and pull out a box of matches. I put the box in the middle of the table. "Ready? Lets get through this box and then we can start on our sewing" I wink.

"Sewing?" I asked as I distributed the matches. "I've never sew before." We always had our clothes made for us, we never had to make them ourselves.

I purse my lips to stop from smiling, "it was just a joke don't worry." I wink. "I have never sewn myself. I do cross-stitch or needle point though. Its fairly easy, I can teach you sometime."

"Oh, okay." I said with a laugh. I never had friends before so I wasn't good at figuring out what was a joke and what wasn't, expect with Draco. "And yes, I would love to learn." I smiled at her. I wasn't sure what Father and Draco would say but right now, I didn't care.

I smile "Its really good for relaxing. I can sit for hours lost in it. Mind you, you get really sore from sitting in one spot for hours." I chuckle.

"It sounds relaxing." I said with a little laugh. "I not that good at sitting still very long though." I always felt the need to learn, to do, not just sit.

"Neither am I, but I am always driven to finish a section before I do something else. One section turns into five very quickly" I laugh.

I laughas, "I'll take your word for it. But I do want to learn." I liked how comfortable I was becoming with her. Usually, it took me longer to this comfortable with people but she was different. I smiled at her and sighed, "Let's keep practicing. We're getting pretty good."
