I had been running my fingers over braille of a book, reading. So when Dad said my name, I jumped slightly. "Oh, hey dad," I said, marking my page. "What's up?" He sounded in a good mood, so I was not worried at all.

I put a hand on Constantine's shoulder as an apology for startling him. "I wanted to ask you a couple of things," I told him.

I nodded at my dad. "Sure, go ahead," I said to him simply.

I loved how willing my kids were to speak with me. It made me feel a lot better about everything. "What do you think of me asking Juliet to marry me?" I asked him tentatively.

I stayed quiet for a moment. "I think Juliet makes you very happy," I said. I held up my hand because I could tell he was going to interrupt me. "She's also a great person. Juliet has never pressured us about anything. I do like her." I smiled, hoping I was looking in his general direction. "I think it'd be an excellent idea."

With the steady careful way that Stan was speaking, I was not entirely sure where he was going to go with that. I felt a relieved smile spread on my lips. "Stan... thank you," I said, pulling him into a hug.

I was slightly startled by the fact of Dad hugging me, but I easily hugged him back. "Geez... all I did was give you my opinion," I said when we let go.

I chuckled. "I know... but this relationship always seemed harder for you boys than Dona. Though you wer emuch better than Ryan was," I replied simply.

Well, Dad did have a point there. "Have you spoken to him yet?" I asked hesitantly.

"Not yet," I said, shaking my head even though Constantine could not see me. "And you know that I've always put the three of you first." I had to add that so he knew.

"I know... but we're old enough now that it's time to put yourself first," I told my dad simply.

I laughed. "Kid, you'll learn this eventually that what you just said isn't true when you're a parent," I explained.

I guessed he was probably right about that. "Was there another question you had or wanted to ask?" I inquired, thinking of what he said earlier when he walked in.

"Yes, I do actually," I replied. "For the wedding, would you stand up there with your old man?" This may be asking too much from him and Ryan, when I got to asking him.
