If today was your last day

I helped them get the boys situated and we all took a seat around the table.  Katie and I were nearest our children -- we may as well give the guys a break since they did just get home practically.  "So... to what do we owe the pleasure of dinner?" I asked, looking from Katie to Oliver.

I looked at my wife and she gave me a slight nod.  I smiled at Percy and Penny.  "Well, we were thinking... we would really love it if you two would be Ben's godparents," I said, hoping that it was not too much of a shock for them.

I felt my mouth drop open.  I looked over at Penny, who was near tears.  I smiled at the two of our best mates.  "Are you serious?  You'd really choose us...?" I could not believe it.

I smiled and nodded at both Penelope and Percy.  "Of course... we put a lot of thought into it... but with Parker being so close to Ben's age," I said, shrugging slightly.  "I think that it'd end up being quite a good combination.  And you two really do mean the world to us..."

I could not stop smiling.  There was no question as to what our answer would be.  "Of course!" I said, standing up and hugging Katie and then moving to Oliver.  "I just can't believe you guys chose us!"  I was truly touched.

I gave Penelope a hug and grinned at them.  "I am so glad you said yes... we'd be screwed otherwise," I said, teasing them.  "We would have no one else to ask, really..."

I grinned at the two of them, glad that they were so happy with our decision.  "Gee, so no pressure on us, right?" I joked, rolling my eyes at Oliver.

I laughed at them both as we all sat back down to continue enjoying our meal.  "Yeah, none at all," I teased, making sure that Ben was eating.

I smiled and took a drink of the wine.  "Besides thinking of something that major, how have things been with the two of you?" I asked, wanting to get some of the pressure off of the conversation.

Penny was always the one to change the topic of conversation.  I looked at the two of them expectantly, taking a bite of the delicious food that Katie had made for all of us.

I nodded and shrugged. "It's going," I said, laughing and taking a dirnk.  "I'm on the regular team now and not just the reserves... so practices have been even more strenuous than normal.  But it's great."  I stopped and looked at Katie.  "I don't know how she's handling it, though," I added, reaching over and putting a hand atop of hers lovingly.

I laughed and smiled at Ollie.  He was just being overly sweet because he had been working late all week long and probably felt bad about it.  "I've been managing," I said, shaking my head slightly.  "How have you two been doing with little Parker?"

"We're doing well," I said after I swallowed the bite of food that I had in my mouth.  "I mean, you know how crazy it can be wiht a little boy... but Parker has been really well behaved lately.  And so has Percy,' I joked.

I rolled my eyes, smiling.  "I've been trying oh so very hard to be well behaved," I said, continuing the joke.  Yes, sometimes I could be funny despite what my family thought of me.  "It's just been difficult with other aspects of my life..."  Oliver would know I was speaking of the Weasley household.

I sighed.  "Nothing's changed on the front of the Weasleys, then?" I inquired, taking a bite of the chicken.
