Who to Choose? -- January 1979 (Break)

I sighed. "It's okay, Tobi... I just hope that you won't do something stupid. Just make sure that it's what you want," I said, trying to be supportive. "Who is it?"

I sighed. "Ember, it's Peter. He's not the one who is making anything an issue. So please don't go overboard with this with SIrius. It's not a big deal. I do love him. He's a great guy... I just didn't want to tll anybody."

I stumbled over to mummy. "up!" I said, holding my arms up so she would pick me up. I was very tired... playing with my toys sure did wear me out!

I smiled as Jada wanted her mother. And I would definitely bring up Peter with Sirius, but not to start anything. But just to see if they had figured anything out with if he was into stuff or not. "Don't worry, Tobi, I won't make a huge deal. But I am going to try to get Peter's side of things through Sirius... I just want to make sure you're alright."

There was no winning with her. "Ember, it's really none of your business... I don't mean to be cruel or anything, but just stay out of it. I know what I'm doing. And I do love him... it's just the way we met wasn't... a way I'd like to share," I said, trying to think of evasive ways of doing things without making Ember raise a red flag again.

I tried not to show that her tone hurt me.  I sighed and bit my lip slightly.  I had to be respectful of my friend's wishes, but still.  "Alright, I'll drop it.  As long as you're happy," I said to her, giving her a pointed look.

I smiled the best that I could.  "Of course I'm happy," I assured my friend.  "Could we discuss something else, though?"  I looked down at my daughter.  "I think it's naptime for miss Jada, too."  I knew my daughter would argue, but it was the truth.

"No!" I shouted, shaking my head.  "Up, up, up!" I giggled, no napping for me!

I hid my smile from my niece and shook my head at her.  "No, missy, I think it's naptime for you.  If you don't take a nap... no snack tomorrow," I said simply.  I would help Tobi keep her daughter on the proper sleep schedule.

When Jada listened to Ember, I smiled a thanks at her.  Once I got my daughter situated, I came back out to her.  "So how is the wedding planning going?  I mean... your mum isn't driving you nuts yet, is she?" I teased.

I laughed, unable to help it.  "No... no one's driving me mental," I said.  "Yet."  I knew it would get to that day, though.  "I would just like to make it happen as quickly as it can... with things getting worse and worse... I don't really want ot wait, you know?"

I nodded at her.  "Well, I understand that completely," I said to Ember putting a hand on her arm comfortingly as I could.  "I don't blame you at all, Ems.  I'm just glad that we're able tos till do something like this... just hopefully nothing will go wrong..." I immediately thought of Peter.

Again I felt as though Tobi was hiding something from me.  But I was not going to continue to ask her for information when she was not going to give it anyways.  Perhaps my paranoia was just on high alert because of everything going on.  I nodded.  "I think everything will be alright," I said.  "I really need to think that way, anyways."

I smiled at her and nodded.  "It will be," I tried to assure her, though we both knew it was an empty promise.  I had no say whatsoever in what would happen in the coming months.

I could not help but laugh a ltitle bit.  "I love your confidence," I said to her, giving Tobi a hug.
