I'm Yours -- 14 February 1997

We were back at school and back together.  It was fantastic... though of course a lot of girls weren't too happy.  But I was finally myself again.  It was Valentine's day and it was as if Addie adn I never spent those five or six months apart.  I knew it'd be cliche if I proposed today, but I wanted to just do it.  I wish that I could've done this a long time ago.  I planned on doing a little bit of a quiet dinner planned.  It was hard to do things with everyone all stuck in the castle.  But I got permission to be in teh Astronomy tower from Remus.  He knew what I was up to.  Remus even helped get the Tower ready while I went to get my date.

I was told to wait by the Hufflepuff door in the basement. Dean also told me to dress cute, but warm. so I had a teal sweater dress on with black leggings and leather knee-high boots. I had on my cloak and also a scarf. I had my hair in waves on my shoulders so I didn't want to wear a hat. I nearly thought he had forgotten when I saw him come around the corner. I smiled and met him halfway. "Hey babe," I said, giving him a kiss.

Kissing her, I took her hand and went to lead her to the place we had our first kiss actually. We talked alon the way and I figured it'd be safe to tell her where we were headed. "It was hard to find someplace for a dinner with it being cold outside and snow on the grounds," I told her.

I raised my eyebrows. "So where are we going?" I questioned. Did I put on this much clothing if we weren't going on the grounds?

I smiled at her. "Well, we're headed to the Astronomy Tower," I told her. I was really proud that I remembered where our first kiss was. Most guys don't remember that unless it was with the one we loved. I can't say I remember much about the other girls I dated.

How sweet! "How'd you manage that?" I asked. That tower was off limits most of the time... especially at night unless it was class time. I didn't realize that we had either snuck in or it had been open... interesting.

I chuckled. "Well.. Professor Lupin helped," I told her. It felt odd that I called him that. It was Remus or Uncy Remus to me.

I looked at Dean. "Why the odd look on your face?" I asked, squeezing his hand as we walked up more stairs.

I laughed. "Just calling him professionally is odd to me," I told her. I hoped that would suffice since I was actually nervous about popping the question. I was told to let Dad and Remus knw as soon as I could of how it went.

I felt like there was more, but I wasn't going to press the issue. We were quiet until we got u to the astronomy tower. The scene was beautiful! There were so many candles. Some were in holders while others were floating. Then there were orchids -- my favorite flower -- strewn about everywhere, too. In the middle was a little bistro table with covered dishes and some wine. It looked beautiful, and not at all overdone. Even the cool air seemed a little warmer.

I was grateful that Remus made sure the food was still hot and was surprised that headded the wine. He must have charmed around the tower or something because it was warmer than expected. I pulled out Addie's chair for her like a true gentleman. "WE might want to eat so it doenst' get cold," I suggested.

I nodded and he took the lids off of the plates. The hot steam brought the delicious aroma to my nose. There was garlic chicken with tortellini covered in Italian herbs and olive oil. "My favorite!" I said. "Thank you, sweetie."

I sat down adn grinned. "You're welcome babe," I relied. We were eating and just enjoying each other's ocmany. We had been honest with each other with everything and thankfully she forgave me for every stupid thing I did. She even told me her mistakes... we had had a baby boy. It was sad that he had been too little to have anything proper... but Addie and I still did something for Cyrus to remember him ourselves.

We finished eating and we talked some more. I noticed that Dean seemed to be antsy or something. "Everything alright/" I asked him, reaching for his hand.

I squeezed her hand and responded, I'm all good, babe." I took a dee breath and knew it was now or never. "I don't want to bore you with a big speech -- and I'm not good tat them anyways," I added with a chuckle. I got out of my chair and down on one knee. "Addie, I love you... and I can't live without you." I pulled hte ring out of my jacket pocket and held it out. "Will you marry me?"
