Best memories come from bad ideas -- Summer

It was summer break and between all of us we had decided my place would be the most peaceful for a party of Slytherins.  At least for the first one.  I had invited pretty much our entire House... we needed to inspire the younger students just as much as us older ones.  I was sure that only those who knew me well enough would show up.  I knew that us older students would definitely be having some bad ideas... but that was what would make this fun.  Of course my father was not entirely pleased I was having so many people over, but he would get over it.  I walked into the study and saw him getting things around because he said he would get out of my hair for the evening and have a date night with Mum.  "Dad... you're headed out now, right?" I questioned, knowing that Crabbe and Goyle would be coming here shortly.  They always arrived early.

I rolled my eyes.  "Yes, your mother and I are heading out here shortly," I replied, finishing putting some things away.  I escorted my son out of the study and locked it up wiht a wave of my wand.  "I do not want any fighting or anything like that, Dorian."  I was grateful that the Potter girl was no longer an interest with Dorian.  I was sure that would have ended badly no matter what my son tried to do.  You just cannot put a Gryffindor and a Slytherin together.  It would surely end in disaster.  "Should I be concerned that there will be any trouble...?" I inquired, thinking that if there was any other student who heard about the party that Dorian would not initially invite, I wanted to prepare myself for what I may be coming home to.

Of course my father would feel the need to repeat his question in a couple of different ways.  "No, Dad... it should just be all Slytherins," I informed him impatiently.  "If anyone else shows up, we'll play nice and make them leave peacefully."  Of coures I highly doubted taht would happen, but I knew it was what my dad would want to hear.  "Now... will you leave?" I requested with a smile.

I smiled at my son and nodded.  "Alright, fine. Have fun," I said to him as I took his mother's hand before walking out the door.  "And Dorian... we love you.  Behave yourself."  With that, Pansy and I Apparated so we could leave our son alone.  I was sure that there would be a terrible mess when we would get back, but I knew that Dorian could handle himself.

I was grateful that they had finally left.  Now I could really set up for the party.  I pulled out of my little hiding place in the manor and set up on the bar an array of different alcohols.  I knew that Mother would never approve; Father would probably find it quite entertaining.  But I still had not wanted to risk them getting rid of it with setting it up before they left.  I continued putting out real party favors/decor because there would be so much more entertaining than what Mother had suggested.  I started up some of the music and poured myself a drink and grabbed some of the munchies I had set out and waited.

I poked my head into the study where I saw Dad doing some physical therapy that Aunt Lily had told him would help.  "Hey, Dad, I'm going to go to that party with Rory once he gets here, okay?" I reminded him.  I wanted to make sure that he knew I would have Rory with me so I was not alone.  I had already gotten permission to go to the party, but I knew how sometimes the family flipped on opinions.

I arrived at the Haven and heard Stan talking to Uncle Dean.  I walked over to them and clapped Stan on the shoulder, chuckling slightly because I startled him.  "I'm here... are we ready to go?" I questioned, looking between Uncle Dean and Stan.

I got to Malfoy Manor and knocked on the door.  I figured I would be polite, even though I had been to Ian's place multiple times.  I probably could just walk in... but I did not want to appear rude.  When he opened the door I grinned at him.  "Hey... I brought some stuff," I said, opening up the bag in my hands.  I had gotten us some alcohol.  May as well make the party interesting.

I looked up at the boys.  I really did not relish the idea of Constantine being over at the malfoy's, but the boys were friends so there was no way I could not let him go.  I smiled at Rory and Stan.  "Alright... behave and have fun, boys," I told them.  I watched them go, they were laughing and chatting.  I could not help but worry that they were going to get up to no good.

"thanks Dad," I said, following Rory.  I kept just my fingertips on him once we left the Haven and made it to Malfoy Manor.  I was not completely familiar with the surroundings there, so I was grateful that Rory was with me so I could help keep my bearings.  We knocked on the front door and I heard movement.  I knew that there were plenty of people already there, but I could easily make out one voice... the voice of Daphne Turner.

"Sounds like your lady is already here," I teased my friend.  Him and Daphne were playing relationship chicken.  Neither one of them wanted to admit they were dating and yet they have not gone out on any actual dates.  They flirted constantly... I was sure that they had kissed at times, but that was just speculation.  Stan never told me those details.  We knocked on the door politely until we heard Ian yell that we could enter.  The two of us walked in and I led Stan to where the rest of the people were.  I was slighlty surprised at the turn out.

I walked over to Rory and Stan with drinks in my hands for them.  "Glad to see you guys were able to make it," I said, grinning at them.  "Stan, it's a pretty open room besides the people.  I have tables with drinks on them near the edge of the room... and there are chairs and a couple of sofas along the outside of the room too.  I wanted it to be as simple for you as possible."  I did not mind having a blind friend like my father would think.  It just made things more interesting in my opinion.

I heard Ian talking to someone, explaining the layout of the room, and I turned to see who I expected:  Constantine and Rory.  I walked over to them.  "Hey guys!  I see Ian has already gotten you drinks... which, by the way, are rather strong," I informed them, realizing that I should probably slow down.  I was already feeling rather tipsy.

I laughed and shook my head at Daphne.  "Perhaps you need to take it easy.  Why don't you have some cheese and crackers to soak up some of the alcohol?  We'll be getting some pizza here soon... but I think some snacks would be best for you," I said, knowing that Stan and Rory would agreew ith me.  Daphne was already getting quite tipsy.  It was a little disconcerting to see her loosening up as much as she was.

I was glad that Dorian explained the layout of the room for the party.  I would need it.  I laughed when I heard Daphne.  "I think snacks would be great," I said, taking a drink that someone was gently pushing into my hand.  I felt the fingers and knew instantly that it was Daphne's hands.  I felt a spark it seemed go between us.
