I hated when he was beign completely honest. It made it so much harder to be upset with him. "Yeah, well, James has had plenty of chances," I pointed out to him, still wanting to argue. "And... you've only got a few left." A smile was playing at my lips, though I tried to conceal it.

I knew I won over my daughter when she started to say I had a few left. "Well, can I use up one of those chances now?" I asked her, smiling at her and reaching out to her.

I glared at my dad the best that I could. Sighing, I gave in. "Fine... but you really don't have much left," I pointed out to him. "And James has far ran out of his a long time ago..."

I laughed. "Oh, yeah... I understand," I assured her. "And I expected nothign less when it came to James and chances... to be honest," I said, leaning in close and conspiring with my daughter, "I say the same thing about him every day when I give him a bunch of new chances... he goes through them like crazy." I pulled away and grinned at my daughter, who was just shaking her head at me.

I was startled into a grin and I shook my head at my dad. "Dad," I said to him, nudging him playfully. "Stop making me smile. I'm trying to be mad with you."

I smirked. "Why? Because I am having a good time making sure that I can win you back," I said, nudging her arm playfully.

I playfully glared at my dad. "No, that's not it at all," I countered lamely, though we both knew that was the real reason.

"Of course it is! Ha!" I said, grinning at Ember. "Honey, in all seriousness, you know I only have your best interests at heart. However, I know that I need to trust your judgement as well." I put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it gently.

I cocked an eyebrow and smirked in triumph a bit. "Aha," I said to him. "So you do trust me." I could not help but get a little cocky about it. I loved getting my dad to say such things to me.

I smiled at her and put my hands on her shoulders. "Of course I trust you," I said to her gently. "it's just that sometimes my fatherly opinions get in the way." I chuckled and hoped that she would ease on up me a little bit.

I laughed at my dad, shaking my head a bit. "Of course they get in the way," I said to him stubbornly. "Mum says they get in the way a lot... and I do have to agree with her on that one."

I raised my eyebrows at Ember. "Ah, so you and your mother spend little tea parties talking about me?" I asked, feigning offense. "I don't see how that is fair at all! I can't even defend myself."

I grinned at him. "Yeah, but it keeps us from getting too mad at you," I pointed out. "So it's not all bad, right?"

I sighed heavily, shaking my head. "Alright, I guess that's fair," I said, smirking at my daughter. I just wished my fatherly tendencies did not always get in the way.
