ROMANIA: Time to put the past behind you, Part I -- Summer 1999 (DONE)

I had been talking with Penelope about my wedding.  I really wished that she could be in my wedding party... ut with the way Percy was with his family, they probably would not be there.  I had to see if I could get Charlie to be the bigger person here. " Hey, sweetie," I said when he walked through the door.  I gave him a kiss and noticed that he had a bandage on his arm.  "What happened?" I asked, wondering if I was going ot have my fiance on my wedding day.

I smiled at her worried expression.  "It's just a burn, babe.  Nothing to be concerned about," I assured her.  I noticed that Desdemona had that look in her eyes that something was on her mind.  I went to the fridge and opened a bottle of beer.  "What is it?"  I asked her, taking a swig.  I figured it had something to do with the wedding.

I leaned against the kitchen counter, trying to figure out how to approach the sore subject of his younger brother.  "Wel, Charlie, I'd like to invite Penny to the wedding," I started out.  I knew that Charlie would catch on quickly to what would be coming next.

My beer lingered at my lips, processing what my fiance was saying.  I lowered the bottle without having taken a drink.  I looked at Desi.  "I don't know if that's a wise idea, Des," I stated slowly.  I was unsure if my family could handle seeing that jerk again.  Mum was saying how she wanted to see them, but I was not sure if I could handle seeing that prick on my wedding day.

Why did they all have to be so stubborn?  I sighed and shook my head.  I crossed my arms across my chest as I stared at Charlie.  "They have a son who is a year old; Parker Weasley.  How can you not want a relationship with your nephew?  I think it's time to mend the bond that was broken," "I explained, trying to be patient with Charhlie.  I had no idea what all happened with everyone, but it was four years ago.

I knew she thought taht everything could be fixed, but there was no way I was going to rally with Percy.  I was about to argue when it hit me; I had another nephew?  I sighed and stared at Desdemona.  "How do you even know allof this?" I asked, trying to understand how things could have gotten so bad between all o fus that we had no idea there was a little Weasley out there.

I knew that was going to get his attention.  I put my hand on his arm.  "I talk to my best friend, Charlie," I said, trying not to sound condescending by any means.  I thought that fact woudl be obvious, though.  I had met the cute little boy as well.  "Parker is adorable, Charlie.  It's time to put everything ehind you... for his sake if not to see your brother again."  I knew Penelope was working on Percy at the same time.  We were going to get at least these two to speak to one another again.

Desdemona met my nephew?  I could not believe it.  "When did you meet Parker?" I asked.  I could not believe she would not have told me.  Perhaps she had tried; whenever anyone brought up Percy, I shut down and stopped listening.  I would also do my best to change the subject, too.

"When we were there for George and lenni's wedding," I explained.  We were not together for long to really get into everything.  But I did get to meet my beautiful nephew.  "Penny said that Percy has been starting to talk about everything.  It sounds like he wants to see veryone but is afraid that he won't be welcomed."  I was trying ot point out that they were all being too stubborn about this.

I finished my beer and looked away from my fiance.  I was not sure if I could do this.  I mean, I was not there when the argument went down.  Maybe I could try to reconcile with my rother.  I shook my head.  "I'm not the one to make the first move.  Bill and Percy got along much better than me and Perce.  They were the smart ones," I said.  I did not want to be the one to see Percy first.  Or maybe I could get us three older Weasleys together.  What wa I even thinking?  It was not my place to accept that prick back into our lives.

I grinned, knowing that my plan was working.  I gave Charlie a hug and a kiss.  "Then maybe you and Bill should go see your brother.  I'm sure that would e delightful... well, at least it would be the start of reconciliation," I said, hoping the brothers could start to work things out and become a family again.

I laughed a little bit.  "Des, don't get too excited.  This may not work the way you hope," I informed her.  I had little hope this would go as planned.  I would write to Bill and we would have the meeting at Shell cottage.  I would leave it up to Percy to bring Parker.  I thought it best that he bring him, though.  It would keep things lighter I thought anyways.

I smiled, quite content that he was agreeing with me to do this.  I left it at that.  He could do the planning all he would like.  i went about making dinner for us with his help.  I was rather pleased with how easily it was to have persuaded Charlie to speak ot Percy.  I kenw Charlie and Bill would be the easiest ones -- they only heard about the argument, they were nto a part of it.
