Tell me what is half so sweet as a baby's tiny feet -- 21/22 April 2002

I held onto my two adorable twins.  I felt tears come to my eyes and could not believe how much I loved them already.  I knew that the family would be coming in shortly to see the babies and myself.  I took a few deep breaths to try to stop from crying; it had to be the hormones and the drained emotions of lack of sleep from being in labor for so long.  The tears started to fall, but they were tears of complete joy.

I hugged everyone and looked at the family that came to be there with us during this.  "Maisie is doing fine," I assured them.  "She's a bit emotional, but that's normal... I'm not sure when they'll let everyone in... but everyone is okay."

My smile widened as Evan told us the news. I ran up and hugged him. "Congratulations! I'm so glad everyone's good." I couldn't believe this was happening. After everything we've been through, this just showed that goods things still happened. It was reassuring.

I smiled, relieved that all was well.  "Ev, you should probably get back in there," I suggested.  "They don't like it when you're gone too long... even if it is to spread good news."  I remembered how Lily was when we had Harry.  This just reminded me that I was not there for Faith and Evan in the beginning... I was just pleased that I could help share in some of their memories anyways.

I was grateful to hear that Maisie was doing alright.  I sat down and let Potter have his moment.  I had to give it to him, he had ausprirsed me with everything dealing with my older sister.

I went over to Al and sat next to him.  "Did you sneak out or did you get permission?" I asked him.  He was in his sixth year at Hogwarts... I was surprised he was there.

Evan came back in and I looked at him.  "Everyone still out there?" I questioned.  When he nodded, my gaze returned to our babies.  "We need to figure out names."

I smiled and sat on the side of the bed with Maisie, taking our little girl into my arms.  "Ah, yes... names," I said to her.  "I liked the name Alexa."  We had never really finalized any names for the twins.

I honestly could not believe that I was a grandpa.  I was so proud of Evan for getting this far with how things had gone in his young life.  I could not stop smiling.

I chuckled and looked at my eldest sister.  "I did some sneaking," I said to her honestly.  "I doubt it's that big of a deal.  I have a feeling the headmaster probably knows I would have done that because he knows Evan and whatnot."

I put an arm around my little brother.  "I'm glad you showed," I said to him.  "And I'm sure that Maisie will appreciate it, too, once you get to go in and see her."

I looked over at our daughter and smiled.  "Alexa... I love it," I said to Evan.  "I think we should have an 'a' name for our little guy, too, then.  Do a twin thing, you know?" When he rolled his eyes, I chuckled.  "What about Avery?  Avery and Alexa?"

I chuckled a bit when Maisie said she wanted to do a twin thing.  I really did not want to, so perhaps I could convince her to call one by their middle name.  "Alright," I said, "Avery and Alexa.  What about middle names?  Maybe we should call one by their middle name so the twin thing won't get them teased later in life...'

I smiled at my eldest sister. "I'm sure she will," I agreed.  "I just know that I'll be exhausted for classes tomorrow... but it's definitely worth it to see my niece and nephew."

I grinned. "Such a rule breaker," I teased, winking at him.  "At least you're here... you were there for Wes, so you may as well be here for... well, the twins."
