Princesses and Tiaras -- May 1987

My eyes widened.  "You're out of tea?" I asked, shocked.  "You drink it really fast, Daddy!"  I stood up and grabbed the tea pot and poured into his cup.  "There!  Now don't drink it too fast... it's a fresh pot.  It'll be really hot," I warned him, making sure all the stuffed animals had tea in their cups, too.

I laughed at her reaction.  "Oh, why thank you," I said to her as she poured me a fresh glass.  I lifted the cup and blew away the imaginary steam.  "It is really warm, isn't it?  I better let it cool off here..." I did not need Lyn to scold me for taking a sip of hot liquid.

I gave my Daddy a look.  "of course it is!  I already told you this, silly!" I pointed out to him.  Sometimes my daddy could be so silly and forgetful!

I smiled and held up my hands.  "I'm sorry!" I said to her simply.  I waited a little bit more and then took a sip of the imaginary tea.  "this is really yummy, sweetheart."

I laughed at my dad and walked over to him, adjusting some of his feather boas.  I took a bite of the real cookie that was on the plates in front of us that Mummy and I had made the day before.  "Daddy, of course this is all yummy.  I made it," I told him.

Wow... Madelyn got the self confidence from her mother.  I smiled at her, trying not to laugh because that would end up winding her up into a tizzy.  "Oh, of cousre," I said agreeing with her the best I could without snickering..

I put my hands on my hips and looked at my daddy.  "Are you about to laugh at me, Daddy?  That's not very nice," I said giving him a stern look like Mummy taught me how to do.

I shook my head quickly at my daughter.  "Oh no, sweetie, I would never laugh at you," I assured her, though I was trying to stop myself from doign just that.  "You're just so cute... it puts a smile on my face."

I crossed my arms and stared at him.  "It's not good to lie, DAddy.  You told me that," I said to him.

I knew one ay she would be smart enough to use my words against me, I just was not expecting it quite yet.  "Honey... I'm not lying... I'm just... don't worry.  I wasn't laughing at you," I said, trying to cover myself.

I smiled at my dad.  He would not lie to me.  It was bad.  "Your tea should be cool enough to drink now," I informed him, sitting down and enjoying my own cup.

"Oh, thank you!  I'm so glad I won't burn myself this time," I said, taking a sip of the imaginary tea.

I smiled at him.  "Do you like it/" I asked him, worrying if it was not a flavor he liked of tea.

I smacked my lips together and smiled at Madelyn.  "Oh, this is very delicious," I assured her.  "Is there anything you'd like me to do to help with the tea party...?"

"You can do the dishes!" I said, giggling.   "I hate doing the dishes."  I looked at hte time.  "Oh no!  It's time to make sure the guests get their baths and get into bed in time!"
