Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat I will always choose you -- March 2000

I had been getting cute little notes and presents since Christmas from Fletcher.  I knew he was just being a goofball, but I felt as though he was being cruel for no reason about this entire thing.  I had a feeling that he might be proposing to me -- but he kept playing games about it all, too.  It was entertaining... for a little bit.  Parvati thought it was hilarious every single time I talked to her about it.

I was busy making some of my mother's recipes from France.  It was a full three course meal as my mama would make for us.  I started off with some basil salmon terrine, which was almost finished.  I looked at the ratatouille that I was serving with homemade baguettes.  We would be finishing it off with a dessert crepe.  I heard the door to the flat open up and turned to see Fletch coming in from work.  I smiled at him and pulled the ratatouille out of the oven.  He whistled at me since I was wearing some leggings that fit me tightly.  Rolling my eyes, I turned around to stick my tongue out at him.

"I hope you're hungry," I said to him.  "I felt homesick and kind of went all out..." I smiled at him and walked over to my boyfriend, giving him a kiss on the cheek before heading back to the stove.

Walking into the flat and seeing Lavender bent over in tight leggings, well, I had to make some sort of statement about it.  I decided on whistling at her playfully while unfastening my cloak.  I kissed her cheek when she kissed mine, hanging my cloak up on the hook.  "It smells and looks delicious," I said, moving to peer over her shoulder as she added the finishing touches on the ratatouille.  It was a good thing that I was not shy about anything that I ate or I would never have survived Lavender's cooking.  

I went and poured us each a glass of wine.  I knew she was tiring of the games that I was playing with her -- but it was so much fun.  I loved her to death and I was going to propose to her soon... maybe I would do it tonight since she went through so much trouble with dinner.

I grinned at him and thanked him for the glass of wine he handed to me.  "You seem rather happy that I'm making a big dinner," I teased, walking away and grabbing my wand to put all the dishes of food onto the table.  I looked over at him playfully as he pulled out my chair for me.  "Oh, what a gentleman," I added, smiling sweetly as him as I sat down.

I shrugged, sitting down in my own chair.  "Well, you know I always enjoy when you go all out with dinner," I assured her.  "And this looks like things you learned from your mum?"  I could tell that it was French at least even if I had no clue what it was.

I smiled at him. "Yes, it is," I said to him easily enough. "I'm just surprised I could remember how to make it all." It had been awhile since I had made this big of a meal that was competely French.
